RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-16-2023

Oh what a monster I have created!

Nebuchadnezzar thinks the whole house is his. He walks around with his tiny self trying to pretend he is not afraid. He is. He keeps looking to make sure that I am close by, and growling the moment one of the other crits move too close.

I was surprised he let the Huskies sniff him when I was holding him. The Huskies are just really curious. But he won't let them get too close if I am not holding him. Sylvester gets close but still not too close. Enoch walks away from him. He is so jealous.

Nebuchadnezzar is long, but he is skinny and tiny. He is actually about 1/3 the size of Enoch or Sylvester. He looks so pitiful. That is how he won over my Mom, who said there would be no more pets. Yet here he is.

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-16-2023

Nebuchadnezzar gained a pound!

He is a whole four pounds!

He is also the most spoiled that I have ever known a feral cat to be! He wants to either lie in your lap or buried up against your back or thigh.

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-18-2023

Nebuchadnezzar is truly living up to his name.

Last night was his first night in the house. He slept cuddled up against my lower back or behind my knees. And I guess that meant to him that he is the King of the house.

He has been walking around like he owns the place. He goes nose to nose with Enoch and Sylvester. He submitted and let Enoch sniff all over him. Enoch and Sylvester are still very stand offish with him.

He walks around the crates when the Huskies are in them, like he is testing himself. Maxx tried to kiss him. He wasn't having it. He tried to bitch slapped Maxx and Maxx looked at me and cussed me out in native Husky with a Florida accent. He tried to push Nebuchadnezzar off my lap. Then got mad when I laughed at him and he went back into his crate.

Nebuchadnezzar tries to act bad, and brave, but I can tell he is still scared. And he is always checking to make sure he can see me. He does not like me to be out of his sight.

He is gaining weight, but 4 lbs is a long way from Enoch's 24 lbs and Sylvester's 22 lbs. His coat is getting shiner and blacker. I think the red colors in his coat was most likely due to the sun. I think he likes being inside and he loves the a/c. He sleeps a lot. I mean a whole lot since he has been inside. Maybe he is trying to catch up on his sleep now that he feels safe.

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-19-2023

It is looking promising. Nebuchadnezzar spent nearly the whole day in Mother's lap. He slept at my feet all night. He spent the early morning on the back of the couch over the Huskies. The Huskies tried to talk to him but they finally gave up when he did not hiss or talk back.

He left the living room, went into Mom's room, climbed into her lap and spent most of the day with her. When the sun went down, he came and jumped in my lap on the couch.

He walks around freely, ignores Enoch and Sylvester unless he wants to engage them. He eats from their bowls and they let him. He let the Huskies sniff him tonight  without getting hissy. That is promising.

He is pitiful looking. In fact that is exactly what everyone says when they see him for the first time. "Poor thing."

I swear the scale has to wrong. I pick up a five pound bag of sugar and I can feel the weight. When you pick up Nebuchadnezzar, it feels like you have picked up air. Even when he walks on you, he is so light you are almost surprised to actually see a solid figure walking on you.

Thank you @Snarl for your support.

He is doing more exploring. He left my bed last night and ran back in about hour. Stayed till this morning. He left when Enoch and Sylvester started chasing each other around the house and bumping into walls.

He is way too tiny to rough house with those two gargantuans. I am afraid to weigh Enoch because he is starting to look portly, and I am sure he is more than that 24 pounds he was three months ago at the Vet.

Nebuchadnezzar is barely 4 lbs, but he holds his own. He looks like a toy compared to the rest in the pack.

He will catch up.   In love

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-20-2023

Oh my! It happened!

Nebuchadnezzar and Enoch were cuddling and kissing!

Sylvester is still ignoring him pretty much. But they all are seeming to be hanging together, though I can tell they still can't figure out why he is so little.

He is letting the Huskies smell him, but when they lick him he gives them a warning to 'Back Off'. The Huskies are still trying to understand why he is being so sensitive, and so hissy.

He seems to get along with Tamar and Goliath better that with Maxx and Bellah. But they all seem to be accepting him as their king.

Forgot to add Enoch and Nebuchadnezzar face to face.

Neb struck the jackpot and he knows it.

Good to see the other animals accepting him.

Cheers

Not bad for three weeks.

Nebuchadnezzar, Maxx, and Tamar

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-21-2023

Mother says that Nebuchadnezzar is "One smart kitten". I think I am starting to agree with her.

Mother feeds the pack every day around 1pm. She was running a little late today. Guess who went into her room, climbed into her lap and started yeowing at her. She said when she put him down and stood up, he ran to his food bowl, stopping every few steps to make sure she was following her.

He has partially abandoned me. He slept with me until around 3am. He got up, used the litter box and did not come back to bed. I found him this morning sleeping in the front room window with Enoch. Of course the moment I sit at the computer, he has to be on my lap or the keyboard.

He knows the difference between Mother and me. He knows Mom as were his food comes from, and he sees me as his protector. As long as he can see me he does not give the Huskies much attention and will even sleep on his back with his stomach fully exposed around the Huskies, if I am close by. He is a lot more cautious if he can't easily see me.

It is almost comedic to watch Nebuchadnezzar and the Huskies when they are in the same room together. They spend more time looking at me than they do each other. Jealousy runs rampant and everybody expects me to give them all of my attention. To the point of pushing and bogarting, which I make sure stays civil.

So anyway. He is likely just a couple of weeks away from a full initiation. That is when I will leave them all together on the back porch while I hide where they cant see me. The back porch has a lot of cat size hiding places where cats can go to get peace from the dogs. Husky play is not for the faint of heart. Though they will not hurt the cats, they just don't like to watch from the floor. They like to be in the balcony with their snack bowl.

When he passes the test, then I can stop worrying. So far so good. I just hope they keep on the even path to full pack status.

I don't allow food aggression among the pack, so I was not surprised to see the Huskies, Enoch, Nebuchadnezzar, and Sylvester, sharing the watering hole without any problems. Next time I will get a pic. One tiny head among all those giant heads looks funny.

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-23-2023

I think I met one of Nebuchadnezzar's litter mates.

He looked exactly like Nebuchadnezzar except Nebuchadnezzar looks like he was the runt.

He showed up at my neighbor's house. He feeds the strays because he likes having them around his coop and the garden.

The kitten that showed up is sweet and very friendly like Nebuchadnezzar. My neighbor thinks that someone dropped them.

Well the two of them were luck and found good homes. If there were more hopefully they were taken in as well.

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-24-2023

I HAVE BEEN ABANDONED!!!!!!

Nebuchadnezzar spent the whole day sleeping in my Mother's lap yesterday. He spent about an hour in my lap yesterday evening. I guess it was his way of saying, "So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, adieu, adieu, adieu, to you.

He then spent the whole night sleeping snuggled up next to my Mom. And he has not left her side yet this morning.

I guess it was inevitable. She was the one that gave in first.

She had said, "No more animals"! She was also the first one to say, out loud, "Poor Thing"! "We can't live him out here on this road".

And of course the rest is history.  Love it

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-24-2023

Oh! So now I think I am seeing the plan.

Guess who is cuddling in my lap.

If Mom is in her room, he wants to be in there with her.

If Mom leaves her room then he follows her out and seeks me out.

Living room, it is my lap he wants to be in. Mom goes to her room, it is her lap he wants to be in.

I know that it is because Mom's chair is right at the window. He gets to see the birds, the butterflies, the rabbits, and the other crits that like to hang out at Mom's window.

In the living room, he gets to watch TV.

He loves cat TV. So does Sylvester.

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - EndtheMadnessNow - 07-24-2023

When not napping my mom's cat follows her around the house. He likes to be close but don't you dare touch me kind of cat. Also, the cat can be fast asleep hiding somewhere in its many sleep locations and soon as my mom yells "dinner time", that cat comes out running like the house is on fire to the dinner table and patiently awaits next to her chair for table scraps. I wouldn't had believed it until one time over for Sunday celebration dinner I seen it with my own eyes. Yea, her cat watches TV too, especially the wildlife channel and loves fresh laundry straight outta the dryer!

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - Chiefsmom - 07-24-2023

Glad to hear he is doing so well with the pack.

Enoch and Nebuchadnezzar.

His new big brother.

The picture makes him look bigger, but next to Enoch in real life     he looks so very tiny.

Love it

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-25-2023

Nebuchadnezzar is getting bold. He does act like he has the entitlement of a king.

Animals sometime put us to shame. Enoch and Sylvester share their food with Nebuchadnezzar.

Nebuchadnezzar is so tiny, and I think he has a mental thing going on about food.

He will stop eating from his bowl and go to eat what the others have in their bowls.

I have to intervene because when he comes to eat they will eat together for a while, when they are finished, Enoch and Sylvester walk away and let's Nebuchadnezzar eat the rest of the food. When their bowls are clean, Enoch goes back and finishes what he left in his bowl.

Now the crazy thing is, that Sylvester is not that fond of wet food, so he just licks off the gravy and leaves the rest for Enoch.

Enoch never leaves anything behind. He licks all the bowls clean.

It is not because they are hungry, because there are bowls of dry food and bowls of water in three different spots around  the house. They can eat freely when they are hungry. And they do.

The wet cat food is just the treat food. It is like ice cream.

But Enoch now always leaves some behind for greedy little Nebuchadnezzar.

Once Nebuchadnezzar becomes food secure, he has a lot to learn about sharing.

RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-25-2023

Nebuchadnezzar weighed in at 5 whole pounds!!!!

He still feels like you are holding nothing. He sure does not feel like a 5 pound bag of sugar or a 25 pound Enoch. Love it

Nebuchadnezzar is the sweetest most loving hellion that ever took the form of a kitten.

All he does is sleep, eat, poop, and play. Problem is that he does not know how to play domesticata. He plays kitten feral demonica.

Enoch is okay with it. Sylvester is just too sophisticated. Sylvester is not having it, so he won't play with him. The Huskies are kings of terrifying play. The are obsessed and mesmerized by Nebuchadnezzar.

Maxx is super jealous and he knocks any of the others off my lap and puts his big head on my lap. He and Nebuchadnezzar are having stand offs. Each will settle for just lying next to me if they can't get the actual lap. Neither are happy with it, but they tolerate the compromise.

But for a feral cat, he sure likes getting his royal bath. I swear Nebuchadnezzar is the cat version of the king when he was transformed into a beast and wandered in the wild for seven years.

Except he is not really as mean as the Nebuchadnezzar in the human form.

Love it
