My fasting experience. - Bally002 - 09-14-2025 Hello, hope you are all fine. To start, I'm 67 going 68 soon. 5 foot 11. Weighed at 107 kilos or about 238 lbs I guess. Bulging belly which I despise. Weak legs and not motivated anymore apart from home duties as wife works hard. Wife or 'true love' or truey as I call her here shouted me a holiday on the coast in a cabin and there was fishing to be had. We had a fine time. But, I was drinking heaps up to and during the holiday and to be honest it didn't really affect me normally. During my binges I continuously ate. Then crashed on the lunge or bed snoring. Retirement will be my death. I don't drink when I have obligations like driving or working and fixing machinery here. I drink after I relax. I take meds for very high Blood Pressure and reflux only and have done for a couple of years. So, moving on. After our little holiday I was feeling very unwell, weak and nausea was setting in and I couldn't even look at food or alcohol. Smoking tobacco made me feel il. By the middle of the week I tried eating and got sick. So I stopped eating. No alcohol and just drank water. No doctors nearby here so I looked at google and You Choob. There was a heap of stuffs to watch and read. Learnt about Autophagy. Never heard of it. Apparently burns fat real quick. Catch is, need to drink water, no food for at least 48 hours. So I checked the time and declared from that point I'd give it a go. ( I have been without food for up to 24 and 36 hours in the past - yetch) But..... 24 hours - Drank about 4 litres of water throughout. (Bout 1 gallon) Took my meds and had a black unsweetened coffee (which is allowed). Hunger pains and cravings. Headache ensued. Face flushed. Head hot. Dizzy near the end. Had to lay down. Sleep didn't come easy and constantly going to the toilet to pee. Head fog and Tinnitus increased making hearing a bit difficult. Lost motivation to work but did the house work. (good Bally I was). Waking up early in the morning, had the runs until everything I felt was flushed out. The coffee made me go again. Very weak. Over the 2nd day - 4 to 5 litres of water throughout. Took my meds. Stomach churning. Head aching more. Lethargic. Weak. Hot flushed face. Tinnitus roaring, sounded like whistling rushing wind. Nasal discharge. Peeing quite a lot. (off the balcony onto the lawn). Had a black tea, no sweetener. Bit bland so I picked a lemon. Put a thin slice into the brew without rind. (allowed) Let it sit then drank the brew and chucked the lemon slice. Bout 10 minutes later felt very ill. Told truey I'm going for a walk. So I did and promptly retched. (Something I haven't done for a while) Apart from a small amount of clear fluid basically nothing came out (Just dribble) and I puked for about a couple of minutes on my hands and knees in the paddock. So, I washed up, took a few sips of water. Nausea went away. Head throbbed. Face flushed and the top half of the bod heated up. I stripped my top of and rinsed my face and hair until I cooled down. Not enjoying this. Stuck to water and had a glass with a pinch of salt. Mouth was tasting yuck. Body cooled and felt confident to put my T-shirt back on. One thing I noticed then was my stomach wasn't bloating. I rested for a while after truey went to work. I got up saying "f this" . Had to do something. Damn headache so I prepped a large cut of lamb for slicing into jerky. Took my mind off how I felt. Dogs and cats enjoyed the scraps. Made a couple of marinades and soaked portions of jerky in each for dehydrating tomorrow. Strangely, I wasn't feeling hungry. With chores completed and jerky lamby in the fridge I thought a good cup of black coffee would help alleviate the headache. Tasted fine and headache subsided to a dull brow ache above the eyes. To keep occupied truey had picked out some areas in the treed area of the top paddock to be mowed with the rideon. So with water and tobacco on hand I fuelled up and went a mowing. Spent an hour and a bit but hand to retire. Feeling weak and head had ramped up again. I spent the rest of the day and evening looking over stuffs on the laptop. Hunger pains surged and went. Headache continuing. Stayed up to 11pm until truey got home. Watched a bit of TV with her, we retired to bed. Hard to get comfortable with a headache. Right foot kept cramping and got up for the toilet a lot. Lots of dreaming in short fits of sleep. - This is fucked I was thinking. - 48 hours had passed. 3rd day - Usual water and meds. Cleaned up. Put jerky in the cooker. Chatted with truey for a while before she had to leave for work. Headache persisted and got a bit of pain from the sinuses. Tinnitus - check. Added a glass of water with a pinch of salt. Also gargled salty water to alleviate the sour taste in my mouth and sore throat followed by a coffee. Hunger pains but I resisted the urge to taste the jerky. (one of my favs), Did the chores and the son arrived with a truck to pick up some furniture for his new dig. While lifting I felt weak, Son asked, I just said "not feeling well) Nearly fainted while lifting one item and I had to sit down. Very dizzy and head aching. After he left spent some time on the laptop. Alternating with doing some chores and checking the jerky. By 5pm I was knackered. Head letting me know but body started feeling a little better. I felt like a light fizzing below my rib cage. Seems I was burning fat. Hunger subsided. Although when I bagged the jerky I was tempted to taste it but didn't. - 72 hours ticked off. I read that 100 hours fasting has better fat burn benefits. That's my goal. At the end I'll weigh myself. Stomach has shrunk a bit. Pro's so far - Cold turkey from alcohol. (might explain the constant headache) Have noticed my gut has gotten a bit smaller. Just one hard poop. Motivated to do it. Learning I can control urges. Not much else. Cons so far - Ill at times, constant headache. Tinnitus increase. Hunger. Concentration poor. (Cut my finger slicing the jerky). Peeing a lot (although it's clear fluid). Cramps in my right foot particularly in the toes. Poor sleep. Fatigue easily. Dizzy when exerting self. Bad taste in mouth. Hot flushing. um,,,I let you know more when I can think straight and type without making mistooks. I'm approaching 79 hours. Fucken headache lol. See if I can make 100. I'm interested to see how I feel tomorrow. Kind regards, Bally the boofheaded. RE: My fasting experience. - Kenzo1 - 09-14-2025 You have guts....hell ,you can come to our house and eat applepie with us ![]() The autophagy is real thing , opinions vary how long have to do fasting to get it really run ....my gut feeling is it start doing it even with intermittent fasting , 18/6 or 20/4 . Btw, i started intermittent fasting , Yesterday was the first full day .....doing because the shingles , my joints/ muscles are painfull when i move....and fasting is powerfull anti-inflammatory .....it lovers inflammation....and right now it seems like litle better today. But the thing is....with fasting you can run in to trouble with loosing electrolyes . Specially potassium which is rapidly depleted first days and later also. Cramps, headaches and all sort of issues can come with low potassium ( hypokalemia ) Take also salt daily, when fasting..as you did Might be good idea to continue with intermittent fasting Bally, as you already got that far . You can have nice eating window everyday, like 4-6 hours , and still get the benefits with the fasting window ( 18-20 ) hours....including autophagy, weight loss etc etc.
RE: My fasting experience. - F2d5thCav - 09-14-2025 I have that poor sleep and foot cramps bit without fasting. Ever since the COVID uproar, my flat foot has gotten stiffer and I have short bouts of restless leg syndrome some nights. That is matched with tense feelings in the top of my foot where it meets the ankle and up through the calf a bit. It is particularly bad on nights when I have poor digestion (I am gluten- and lactose- sensitive so it is easy to get my guts in an uproar). Quite the sleep disruptor. Tinnutus as well. Sounds like being on a modern jetliner when it is cruising at high altitude. Bally, what Kenzo said. Watch your electrolytes. You can get sodium and potassium supplements that may make the fasting less oppressive. One type of fasting is consuming nothing but the juice from dark berries. That cleans out the guts after a few days. And yeah, I like red wine too much. Good luck with your regimen.

Cav ,sounds like iron deficiency ....those symptoms ,restless leg syndrome ,tinnitus with gastrointestinal (GI) disorder which often cause iron defiency . But could also be other deficiencie too like low potassium . Problem with low iron , if you take blood test and it`s in " reference value " ....doctor may just say it`s okey/no deficiency , but you may have deficiency stil . I dont trust the reference value....and i tested it by taking iron when doctor claimed my values dont show deficiency . Common deficiencies: magnesium, potassium , iron ,vitamin A ... Low stomach acid also common issue RE: My fasting experience. - Bally002 - 09-14-2025 (09-14-2025, 04:37 PM)Kenzo1 Wrote:(09-14-2025, 04:12 PM)F2d5thCav Wrote: I have that poor sleep and foot cramps bit without fasting. Thank you for your replies @"Kenzo"#96 @"F2d5thCav"#97. Just woke up after a crap night. Your advice and comments are noted and appreciated. When I get through today it will be 96 hours and I'll post here to update. Kind regards. Bally RE: My fasting experience. - 727Sky - 09-15-2025 76 here and fading fast but.....A Magnesium tablet for a few days stops legs cramps for me; a golfer friend said it worked, and it does for me. I do not have a beer gut; I have bone to bone at one of my vertebrates in my lower back and if my belly gets big it puts to much pressure on my back. If that happens no exercise or golf for me. I do not go out of my way to drink Alcohol and have probably not had a wine or beer in over two years. Do not like the taste usually .. Michelob Ultra lite when I used to have a beer was my beer of choice but that is not sold around here. As far as weight I found I eat breakfast and lunch around 14:00 and nothing else afterwards other than water or a milk and crackers if really hungry. I smoked for over 65 years and having the heart attack or angina May a year ago (2024) I quit. The Doctors gave me a bag of different pills to take which made me sick. Because my blood pressure could get above 180 I messed around and found some B.P. medicine ( Diovan 160 ) that I could take 1/2 of the already small pill every couple of days or when my B.P. got over 140...125 or 135 seems to be the best for me; a full pill can knock me down to 108 or lower. MANY FRIENDS SAY DOCTORS INSIST YOU HAVE TO TAKE B.P. MEDICINE EVERYDAY.. After watching many friends die under Doctors care I read/research and do my own thing. Never ever thinking I would live or even want to live this long it seems to work for me.. Just my 2 cents worth... I played golf today and shot a 77 not playing up to my standards but as long as I take money off my opponents, " Call it a Happy Ending !" Cheers for the tips mate. I have magnesium but am not taking it while fasting. I have before and I will if this gets too bad. Hitting 4 days now mit nuttin to eat. Just coffee occasionally. It hit 27C here (about 80F). Very sunny day. Cooler indoors. (No aircon). I'm now going for 5 days. I have seen results. Some painful but fat wise reasonable. Apart from a small spell of gardening I've spent the day indoors after over heating. Stripped off and spent the day washing and cleaning the cookware of all things. Missus took some jerky to work (I was very jealous watching her taste each of the flavours before packing her dinner.) I also jerkied some butchers bacon strips and she took the lot lol. I am still smoking 'roll yer own' tobacco and perhaps a bit too much but it takes my mind off the fast. Haven't a machine to check BP and the doc or pharmacy is 45 klms away so I will wait to true love's day off and go in and have it checked. If it is still high then this experiment has done the BP no good. As for golf, I'm not a player but I walk around the property where I imagine a 9 hole 'pitch and putt' course. After the bush fires I had the property land scaped around the open paddocks. Dams, gently undulating ground, some T offs and trees of course. We've been mowing a lot of acreage. It looks like a park. Bird life, many roos and other critters. The rest is timbered bush and the creek looks like a picture down the back (steep drop and rocky). This year I'll be panning and sluicing as @"Michigan Swamp Buck"#32 got me interested. Cleared a driveable track and as the water warms I'll be down there fitness permitting. Thanks again for your reply and interest. I'll be checking in this evening when I hit 100 hours. Kind regards, Bally) RE: My fasting experience. - F2d5thCav - 09-15-2025 727Sky, As far as beer there goes, what, no Trente-Trois ? Oh yeah, that was SIXTY YEARS AGO. Jesus, Cav ... ![]()
RE: My fasting experience. - Bally002 - 09-15-2025 (09-15-2025, 09:54 AM)F2d5thCav Wrote: 727Sky, Lol Cav. RE: My fasting experience. - Bally002 - 09-15-2025 Evening. Just recording that as I type here I've reached 100 hrs without any food or alcohol. I'm determined to go another 24 hrs. More about that will follow. During last night I basically had the poorest sleep. Apart from getting up throughout 7.5 hrs to pee I suffered leg cramping. Couldn't get comfortable and had that bastard of a headache throughout. After rising I waited a bit then had a cup of black coffee (unsweetened). Thought this might master the headache. Truey got up a bit after me and made me another coffee. Thoughtfully I drank that too on top of water. To keep myself busy I emptied the electrical appliance cupboard. There were 2 older deep fryers, and some other items I hadn't used since I got my airfryer some time ago. They were covered in dust adhering to the outside from thin layers of cooking oil. The cords were the same, greasy. The insides were still damp from oil and it had baked to the surfaces. There was a lot else which I won't go on about. I just wanted to scrub stuff. (motivation?) Hunger pains came and went and the headache ensued. My left sinus and gums joined in. A few years back I had a operation on the sinus to clear it out of polyps and it had also caused the teeth of the gums below to decay and abscess. They were removed. Left nasal passage started running and I could taste gunk running into my throat. I kept at cleaning until just before midday when truey gets ready for work. I took out the packets of assorted flavour jerkies I had made as well as a couple of slices of bacon which was nice and crispy after being through the same process. Truey tasted them all. Selected assorted flavours and also packed all of the bacon for her lunch. I felt envious as I love jerky. She also had a dram of the moonshine with coke. Off to work she went. I sat down for a while. Did a bit of laptop work and had...another coffee..head was very painful. Went outside for a walk to take my mind off hunger. Dicked around in the garden and sheds. It was 80 F. The sun was too bright. Relented and came inside to cool off. Stripped down and commenced cleaning. I cracked at this moment with the pain in my head, gums and left nostril. Hell. I relented and took 3 nurofen tabs. Rested at the laptop till I felt the pain subside then went back to scrubbing fatty deep fryers and the sandwich press. Things I won't probably be using again. Pain subsided and I felt some clicking in my left sinus and the pressure released. Runny left nostril for a bit but the relief felt great. No headache now. I don't normally take nurofen but the tabs certainly worked. Got jack of scrubbing, sat down, had another coffee. Seems feeling weak and lethargic was disappearing. Started cleaning again until late afternoon where feeding the animals didn't feel like a chore. Had a shower. This was different. I could actually bend down and take my socks of without my gut causing a problem. My man boobs had shrunk along with the waist line and I could see the little fella. In the mirror was puffy face was starting to shed. Near the hips some loose skin was starting to appear in a small roll. While getting dressed, putting socks on was easy compared to before. Feeling better now for the first time in days. Gum ache coming back. Keen now to go to town and check my BP, insulin levels and my weight. (scales here broke lol). Will hit the fart sack soon, no farting to be had. So actually looking forward to this experiment tomorrow and see if I can make it 5 days and record the results here. Kind regards, Bally. And the autophagy is really at max power after 3 days i think , so great benefits ...Bally is the man
RE: My fasting experience. - F2d5thCav - 09-15-2025 At Kenzo. Bought some iron supplement today and took a tablet. Oddly enough, it is dark outside and my usual fatigue has not settled over me. Maybe it helped. At Bally. Wow, you're disciplined and determined. Be sure not to injure yourself with too much fasting.

I liked the presentation. 2 young blokes recording their fast over 7 days. Their data, although different over their days is similar and reports symptoms that I have had. Good perspectives from different bodies. https://youtu.be/KSSBiNPZs8Q Looking at 7 days real serious now. Just disappointed with their respective weight loss as this morning I feel different and have noticeably lost fatty tissue. eg, my thighs no longer rub together, amongst others. When I report tonight i'll outline the changes. Kind regards, Bally RE: My fasting experience. - Bally002 - 09-16-2025 Well, that's 5 days done and dusted. Before I continue I must correct 2 mistakes I made yesterday. 1. I reported I took 3 nurofen tabs to quell the head pain. I got the name wrong I did in fact take 3 Ibuprofen. 2. I went to take them again today but this time I checked the back of the packet with a magnifying glass. (true). The warnings stated. Do not take if you are over 65 old. Do not take more than 2 at a time. Oops. I got out of bed about 8am after 7.5 hours sleep. Headache of course and my sinus was was letting me know through my left upper gums. Brain very foggy. Drank some water and made a black coffee. Sat down to catch up on the Laptop. I was squinting and had to turn the volume down in the head phones. Finished the coffee and choofed some tobacco. Truey got up and made me another coffee. Cheers. I was feeling groggy and weak. Hung about on line for a bit then went into the kitchen to clean up more. Took my meds as well as some magnesium washed down with a glass of salt water. Didn't experience cramps over night. The pain around my head persisted and that's when I went to take more Ibuprofen and subsequently read the warnings. So I took 2 paracetamols. Pretty slack morning and spent time catching up with Truey's happenings at her work. She noticed my face had thinned and commented my gut had shrunk. I showed her my upper arms which had also thinned. My thighs were no longer rubbing, she mentioned they looked much thinner. I showed her the skin starting to crease under my armpits and my manboobs had shrunk. BIt of flabby skin around my waist and lower back. Second chin seems to have disappeared altogether. Pain settled and I saw her off to work after midday. Sat down at the laptop for a short time watching You Toob and catching up. Then went back to work. Pain was settling so I commenced more housework and garden work. Temp outside was up in the 80's and while leaning down in the garden I was alright but when I stood up I was light headed and having some head spins. Sunlight was bright requiring sunglasses and hat. Didn't help the head spins so back inside. Relaxed afternoon. Indoors alternating between more cleaning and laptop. Some hunger pains but chugging water relieved them. Although throughout the afternoon I began feeling much better and cognitive skills had improved. Some little bursts of energy. I've noticed that I don't feel like an afternoon nap as I used to when drinking and eating. Haven't felt sleepy tired at all. Just conserving energy I spose. Not lazy but not active. Looking now at all the jobs I'll do when I break this fast. Later as the sun set I felt muscular pain across the upper chest and under the armpits and at the back of the neck but nothing I need to take any further pain relief for. So now moving into the 6th day. I feel better and can continue if only to see how I feel tomorrow and if I shed more fat overnight. My main concern is that my upper arms have shrunk. I'm going to watch that. I do want to lose any muscle. When I say shrunk, they'd suit a skinny body. Can't complain though. My track pants are slipping and baggy around my legs. I feel this is really working quickly which is better than past diets I used which took much longer. When I break this fast I'll be moving into low carb. Some stretching to help with loose skin, long walks and eat protein which combined with some farming work and lifting may assist in keeping muscle mass. I've reached my goal of 5 days and in the morning will have exceeded it. My body in that time certainly looks different and my walking has improved. It's easier and I can feel lighter going up hill and up the staircases. Thinking about 7 days now and then that's it. Presumably. Cheers. RE: My fasting experience. - Bally002 - 09-17-2025 Start of my 6th day was fine. Woke up after a deep sleep. Only 1 toilet trip. Big fat shed. No headache. Had to drive to town. Plenty of water. Wore me out. Light headed. Afternoon up and down. Muscles aching around the upper chest and armpits. Was good for a while then started crashing. After this day which started good and I was feeling confident I'm going to bed to face the 7th day whereupon I'm chucking the fasting in and starting a carnivore diet so officially it will be 6.7 days. I'll be hitting the mattress soon and will be up at 4am to see truey off to work. I think I'll make a breakfast of eggs, cooked sliced kabana and perhaps some cheese. My body is now weak and feeling the pain. Hope I shed some fat tonight. We'll see. Kind regards, Bally. The side effect of that is loosing weigh can also then go harder with metabolism acting slower .
