USO/UAP and water - babushka - 11-01-2025

How do you go 200 knots under water? Why are there many UFO reports around water? Fuel for a nuclear powered craft? I don't really care, ramjets are badass. Too bad about the dolphins and radioactive shrimp, but otherwise rad

Good take from dark docs, able to fly for weeks or months. I wonder what one of these looks like flying at high altitude.

"How do you go 200 knots under water?"

Supposedly, in theory, supercavitation, which is a process where a large gas bubble envelops the object, drastically reducing drag.

The Convair Model 118 ConvAirCar (also known as the Hall Flying Automobile) was a prototype flying car intended for mainstream consumers of which two were built and flown. The first prototype was lost in an accident due to fuel exhaustion. Subsequently, the second prototype was rebuilt from the damaged aircraft and flown. By that time, little enthusiasm remained for the project and the program ended shortly thereafter.

Test pilot Reuben Snodgrass flew the prototype, registration No. NX90850, for the first time on November 15, 1947. On November 18, 1947, while on a one-hour demonstration flight, it made a low fuel forced landing near San Diego, California, destroying the car body and damaging the wing. The pilot, who escaped with minor injuries, reportedly took off with little or no aviation fuel aboard. Although the fuel gauge he had visually checked during the pre-flight check indicated that the tank was full, it was the automobile's fuel gauge, not the aircraft's gauge. Using the same wing and another car body, the second prototype flew again on January 29, 1948, piloted by W.G. Griswold, but enthusiasm for the project waned and Convair cancelled the program. The rights reverted to Hall, who formed T.R Hall Engineering Corp., but the Model 118 in its new incarnation never achieved production status.

Find it somewhat interesting that all three of these projects:

Project Orion
Project Rover / NERV
Project Pluto (Dr. Strangelove madness)

Were discussed fairly openly in that they certainly weren't black projects. They all had Ads, articles, and news updates with reported setbacks in open literature.

Donald Irwin Prickett (1919-2004) was a (USAF) Colonel who served as the research director for the Air Force Special Weapons Center at Kirtland Air Force Base in the 1950s and 60s. Pickett was the USAF Liaison officer for the Orion Project nuclear powered spacecraft.

Prickett was also a friend of Gene Roddenberry, they having served together in the USAF during the WWII. When Roddenberry was developing and pitching the idea for Star Trek in 1964, he initially contacted Prickett for help as a technical advisor. Prickett wrote to RAND Corporation scientists on Roddenberry's behalf which resulted in Harvey P. Lynn, Jr, a RAND Corporation physicist, serving as scientific adviser for Star Trek's pilot episode, "The Cage" which didn't air until 1988.
