Thank you!!
You're welcome.
I may not agree with someone's opinion, but when I don't, I think the proper course of action is to present a dissenting opinion, not try to shut down the opinions I don't agree with. In a marketplace of free thought, the ones that prevail are the most correct, best argued ones. If the debates are not allowed to happen freely, if the only response is to try to shut down opposing ideas, then that tells me that the folks doing the shutting down are in the wrong, because they cannot present opposing arguments strong enough to counter the opinions they seek to squelch. In other words, they feel they HAVE TO shut down free speech, because they cannot argue successfully against that speech.
It's the same when folks have to resort to name calling and nasty, unfair digs at their opponent - they have to do so because they cannot calmly argue a dissent that can overcome it. Those sorts of actions are really just another way to attempt to censor opinion, which is why they do not fly at Rogue-Nation.
If I shut down all opposing opinion, then I will never be enlightened when I am actually in the wrong opinion - which does happen occasionally - and will therefore never experience any growth. That is the dilemma that censors find themselves in. Mental and social stagnation and emotional and social stunting, not progress.
If one has to censor an opinion because they cannot counter it, then that is a pretty clear indication that they are on the entirely wrong side of that opinion.
