That became old news the day after that last report. Twenty+ German divisions surprised the Allies with a massive assault into the Ardennes ('Battle of the Bulge').
No doubt the intel guys kept an eye on it. There has been mention of some odd German anti aircraft technology, but nothing that I recall would match the metallic spheres.
Would not surprise me to know that one or two of those are in a very special collection somewhere.
