What are you thinking about today? - LightAngel - 02-28-2026

Lately I have been been surrounded by people who are hurting, even if they don't say it out loud.

It's been sitting heavy with me.

I wish we all felt safer leaning on one another when life gets hard.

No one should have to carry everything by themselves.

RE: What are you thinking about today? - quintessentone - 02-28-2026

I too, lately, seem to be surrounded by people who are hurting in one way or the other. I can only be there for them either as a shoulder to cry on, an ear to borrow to listen to their sorrow be known in good and bad ways, an alternative opinion or advice giver, if asked for advice, which I am, so the burden on giving advice can weigh heavy on me. I am heartbroken and sad for them, but I must separate myself from being too involved empathetically because it will only bring me way too down.

What am I thinking about today? All that and I need new car tires and I will end up with two sets (Summer and Winter) with rims and do I want to recycle the tires into garden art or campfire chairs and sell the rims?

I am trying to keep my mind busy with other things.

Pretty mundane things really.

It's beautiful day here in Kentucky and I'm about to go out and start picking up dead branches that fall every Winter and then there's a few trees I want to trim back, so I'll be getting out the chainsaw. The guy who tills my garden every year stopped by and we set a date for him to come. I paid him so if I'm not home he can go ahead and do it. He's got one of the bigger tractors with a tiller attachment and he does a great job. My Wife wants to plant a Weeping Willow, but it's a little too early. Probably wait a couple more weeks. I plant 5 different kinds of tomatoes every year and keep the seeds, so I need to decide which I'm going with this year....and fix one leaky gutter.

Just regular homeowner stuff.

Thinking the same things I think about every day ... do we have enough money and how is our health.

RE: What are you thinking about today? - DonnerPartyOf404 - 02-28-2026

Change is what I am thinking about today 24/7.  Change happens but I don't care for it.

I've spent the past year plus helping someone to get out of an abusive relationship.  As I am disabled this duty has put me in the hospital a few times for surgeries.  Perhaps I'll explain that part later.

Now that the dust has settled, moving wise, I see that we get along as well as cats and jellyfish so I will be saying goodbye to this person in the next month or so and starting over once again.

Aside from that and for past year, just adapting to change, not worry about anything that I have absolute no control over. On that note, planning for my garden to be even larger than last year just in case SHTF in my parts.

Yes, I also have to learn that, but it isn't easy.

On some days I can be empathetic in a healthy way, but on other days I can feel people's pain so much that I almost get sick - our boundaries get thin when we are tired.

Caring deeply is a strength. The goal isn't to care less, but to care in a way that doesn't drain you.

I am working on that.

I'm thinking about little birds that forget that they have to do work with their theories. Without movement there is no light

Doing is rewarded. You are rewarded with what you seek, if what you seek is knowledge you are rewarded more knowledge to seek. If what you seek is action, that is the reward. Everything measured towards your ability.

It has always been the way to seek the help of a higher power when something is beyond your ability to enact.

If there is no higher power to assist you then it's pointless reaching beyond your means and how small is your dreams then?

Internet forums don't like my honest opinions and I am banned everywhere but here.
It's really amusing, to be honest.

Well, this morning I got locked out of Facebook, apparently for "Fraud and Deception" !!!!!  Laughing
Thankfully, I had set up on another platform (Skool) for my business. However, as it's early days, I don't yet have the thousands that follow me on Fb. It's where I promote my business and my courses. I have appealed the decision, but I'll have to wait 24-48 hours for their decision.
If they don't revoke their decision..... I'm screwed business wise!
So yes, I'm thinking about that mostly today......

Things are settling down with some family members but I'm still in the middle of it.

To take my mind off of their problems, I'm planning my next gardening adventures and home repair, namely replacing the kitchen sink (no pun intended) and finding storm doors at a reasonable price.

I'm thinking about how nice the weather is here in da frozen tundra. Got close to 50F, which for this time of year is a tropical heatwave. I'm looking forward to my chorus rehearsal tonight. Our rehearsal got cancelled last Tuesday due to our director having some post hernia surgery complications. This is a wonderful day to sing. Well, every day is a wonderful day to sing. I'm also looking forward to my nephew Joe's wife Sarah and her baby sprinkle on Saturday. Their son Jameson is almost 2, and Sarah is due to have twins shortly after Jameson's second birthday. Both boys. That makes one grand niece and two grand nephews so far. My niece Nikki has a girl, Madelyn (Maddy) and a boy, Wesley. My sister Tracy is a happy granny (gammy).

Today, I think I'm winning as mediator with making sure the two parties in conflict do the right thing by each other even though the hard feelings and resentment sometimes take centre stage.

Today is the day to look for the new kitchen sink.

RE: What are you thinking about today? - Freija - 03-05-2026

Today my focus was on my getting my hair done. I'm a night owl so I set my alarm for 9:30 which allowed plenty of time for my afternoon appointment but I didn't get up until 11:00 and couldn't goof around for the normal two hours I usually spend before doing anything. I still ended up rushing out the door 15 minutes before my scheduled time and had to stop at the ATM but I made it on time with two minutes to spare.

Because I hadn't been since the end of September it took something like 2½ hours that seemed like forever and I had about 2½" cut off so it seems a lot shorter. It also cost an arm and a leg but that was expected.

It came out okay but next time I won't wait 5 months.

Then I came home, ate, watched a Netflix movie and then felt sleepy so I took a 2½ hour nap AT 9:30. Now it's almost 1:45 AM and I'm wide awake. Damn.

Tomorrow it's back to my woodworking project.

I love it, can I ask what your natural hair color is?

Mine is golden blonde, but sometimes I change my hair color just because I need a change (like changing clothes) - but I always go back to my natural hair color.

RE: What are you thinking about today? - Moon68 - 03-05-2026

Dreary weather has my hips, knees, ankles and feet hurting bad.

Got me to thinking. It'd be cool if they could just amputate from the waist down and graft the rest of me onto a tank platform.

That would be cool.

Sorry to not answer more quickly. I vacillated between going off topic to reply which would have been rude or not answering at all which would also have been rude.

When I was young, my hair was very light blonde. As I got older, it grew in darker near the scalp but stayed mostly blonde. As I hit my 30s it was all kind of a mousey blondish light brown. Now that I'm 900 years old, it seems to come in even darker and my stylist of 10 years doesn't understand why I don't have more grey and won't stop going on about it.

I've colored my hair for at least 40 or more years always somewhere in the blonde family from platinum to strawberry to golden. I tried to find a picture with my roots showing my natural color but didn't have much luck except for the one below from a few years ago. I've never really have a camera capture the color right anyway. While I was looking, I found one other shot from 2021 I liked so I included it for fun.  Big Grin
