Hi all.
So my son was home alone today for several hours. My brother lives next door, but has a separate front-door.
My son said that when I was gone he heard my brother's front door open and close several times.
My brother off course wasn't home, so it wasn't him. Also when he got home his door was locked (we talked to him).
He also heard some strange sounds from the roof?

The other time this happend , he was home alone at my mom's house. He loudly heard the backdoor open and slam shut!
But off course , the door was closed and locked as if nothing had happend.

In the past my son has seen shadow people , it has to be connected somehow.
It's super interesting to me , so I'm posting about it 

I don't think it's something to worry about at least. 
I also don't think it's his imagination as he knows for sure what the doors sound like, and it doesn't happen every time he's home alone.

We are told that shortly before his death on the Cross Jesus cried aloud, quoting the first line of Psalm 22; “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” (Mark ch15 v34).
 
Taken in isolation, this looks like a cry of despair. Indeed David C.K. Watson, in his evangelistic book “My God is Real”, asserts that Jesus did indeed experience a loss of contact with his Father, for the first time in his life, because he was overwhelmed by the burden of “the sin of the world”, which he was now taking on. I remember that argument well, because that page was a key factor in my own conversion to the Christian faith, one night in May 1972. The impact of that concept won me over (intellectually, rather than emotionally).
 
However, there’s also a lot to be said for not taking that cry in isolation. Another angle worth considering is that quoting the first line of the psalm was a shorthand way of quoting the whole psalm, and the whole psalm should be taken into account as an expression of his meaning.
 
Psalm 22 can be divided into sections in which “I need God’s help” alternates with “God must help me, God will help me, God has helped me”.
 
Vv1-2 “I need God’s help.” The speaker cries to God day and night, but finds no rest because God does not respond.
 
Vv3-5 Yet God ought to help because he has helped Israel in the past. This may be one of the many psalms in which the troubled “I” is actually Israel, speaking as a community, making a corporate appeal in times of national danger. “Our fathers” trusted him and were not disappointed, because he saved them. That is why he remains “holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel”.
 
Vv6-8 But the speaker’s life is currently in a very depressed state. “I am a worm and no man.” “All who see me mock at me.” They say “He committed his cause to the Lord; let him [the Lord] deliver him.” In fact that is exactly what “they” say in Matthew; “He trusts in God; let God deliver him now” (Matthew ch27 v43). And the gospel narratives describe other forms of mockery around the Cross.
 
Vv9-10 On the other hand, again, the speaker has been committed to the Lord all his life, from the time of his birth.
 
Vv11-18 The speaker describes the trouble that is surrounding him, when there is apparently nobody near to help.
 
He is surrounded by a menacing herd of “bulls of Bashan”. Bashan is a region north-east of the Sea of Galilee. High elevation, presumably good pasture land, and therefore famous as a cattle area. The bulls would be well-fed and strong. The imperious high-born wives of Israel are called “cows of Bashan” in Amos ch4 v1.
 
Alternatively, he is surrounded by a pack of wild dogs. All dogs are comparatively wild in this culture, which is why the word is an insult. Or, dropping the metaphors, “a company of evildoers”.
 
“I am poured out like water”. All the strength and energy has gone out of him.
“All my bones are out of joint… my tongue cleaves to my jaws”. This could be a literal description of the experience of crucifixion, in which the actual cause of death is slow strangulation caused by the posture in which the victim is suspended.
“Thou dost lay me in the dust of death”.
“I can count all my bones.” In the psalm, this is probably meant to portray the effects of starvation during a period of famine. No flesh left.
“They divide my garments among them, and for my raiment they cast lots.” This is echoed in the gospel narratives and actually quoted in John ch19 v24.
 
Vv19-21 On the dual basis of his need to be helped and his right to be helped, the speaker makes his appeal for the protection of his life.
 
We are told that Jesus “made prayers and supplications… to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard for his godly fear” (Hebrews ch5 v7). Someone might ask “How was he heard and saved, since he died on the Cross?” The answer is that his faith was preserved unto the point of death, and he was raised from the dead. He passed through death and came out on the other side.
 
That is the promise of “salvation” made for us regarding the tribulation. There is no guarantee whatever that God’s faithful people will escape suffering or even death in the tribulation, but their faith will be preserved and they will be raised from the dead. That is what “coming out of the tribulation” means (Revelation ch7 v14). It means passing through the tribulation and coming out the other side, like canoeing through the rapids instead of by-passing them.
 
Vv22-31 All this is leading up to the triumphant message that God will be praised. Christ has been raised from the dead.
 
The speaker will praise him and urges others to praise him, because he has heard the cries of appeal.
This will go out to “the ends of the earth”, because the Lord has dominion over all the nations. All the proud men of the earth will bow down. This is not just for the present but will continue into the future.
“Men shall tell of the Lord to the coming generation, and proclaim his deliverance to a people yet unborn.”
 
“Why hast thou forsaken me” is not a cry of despair. It is the heading and prelude of a triumphant message about the resurrection of the dead and the proclamation of the gospel.

China is trying to be aggressive with Vietnam and things are escalating between the two communist countries.

Other countries seem to have had enough of the Chinese B.S. and IMO until there is strong push back against the Chinese Bully they the Chinese will continue to force their way into the south China sea. I hope I live long enough to see the CCP's 

downfall !
If another shooting war starts will Russia side with China or with Vietnam once again? Will America jump in with both feet or try to tread water ? I would hope we would back Vietnam and the other Asian countries that are trying to fight back against the CCP. IMO there is a judgement day with the CCP but no one knows when the fireworks will begin in earnest.

Another year, another gardening thread for the back yard gardeners among us.

I'm already slacking this year. I staked out and broke up the perimeter of a larger garden spot, incorporating both of last year's gardens within it, plus about that much ground again, but I reckon I bit off more than I can chew by hand, Preparation is way behind, and may not get accomplished at all this year. I really ought to invest in a rotor-tiller.

I got a bit disheartened by last year's piss poor results. For instance, out of all my corn, what I got doesn't even fill a ziplock baggie, cobs and all... and none of the ears were full. Some ended up looking more like teosinte than corn. Instead of husks on those ears as we would expect, each individual kernel has it's own husk, and the ears were only 2 or 3 inches long in total. Not a very promising result.

Last year's beans in total amounted to a condiment cup full of dried beans, not even enough for a single serving.

I got a grand total of 18 cayenne peppers, but they were plenty hot. Life is full of trade-offs, i reckon. I got a total of TWO green peppers, both only about the size of a golf ball. Plenty of tomatoes, but again all of them were only about the size of a golf ball.

So.

I'm a bit disappointed, and not very motivated to break up the ground if that's all I get out of it. Especially not to go to all the trouble of breaking it up by hand with a Garden Weasel gadget.

I never got hold of any of the corn I was planning for this year - Hickory King corn. I had decided on that because it makes good hominy, and is better for making grits, corn meal, and masa flour. But, never having managed to get my furry mitts on any seed for it, it's not likely to be in the offing. I've also not gotten any seed for pole beans, which i had figured on planting in with the corn. I DID get some butternut squash seed, though.

All I've started so far is tobacco (Midewiwin Rustica variety from around the Great Lakes), basil, thyme, and some local catnip. I gathered the catnip seed from plants still growing where I grew up. My intent was to hybridize the catnip that has acclimated to the local climate for generations with some fresh outsider catnip that I got started last year. last year's catnip survived the winter and is sprouting out again.

I sewed those herbs on Saturday night/ Sunday morning (23/24 March) right around midnight, in tiny little greenhouse starters that Grace got for me last year. About mid-day on Tuesday the 26th, I noticed the tobacco and basil already sprouting, just a couple days after planting it. No progress yet on the catnip or thyme, but I recall from last year that the thyme took almost a month to start sprouting, and I'm using the same seed that I used last year to start it.

The tobacco seed was starting to get old. It's from a 2020 crop, but it's the only pure-bred seed I have of that variety, so it's what I had to use. I figured since it was getting on in years, I'd double-up on the amount of seed used to insure enough sprouts. that might have been a mistake - the planters for the tobacco have a full green carpet in them today, sprouting pretty thickly. Still, I reckon that will give me enough to plant out, even after I cull the weaker plants.

Coming back from last year's plantings are the catnip previously mentioned, as well as a couple of sage plants. Some onions, although the tops are pretty puny still compared to what they were. The rosemary bush died over the winter apparently, so I'll have to start fresh again this year it appears. All of the peppermint died over the winter, but that's no big loss, considering that it was looking pretty weird for peppermint anyhow.

I had two plants "volunteer" in some of the soil I had, which looked a lot like blueberry plants. I planted them out on either side of my walkway last fall. I'm not sure if they survived the winter or not. All of the leaves turned red, and finally fell off in late January or early February, and the plants are still naked. I don't know if they'll come back or not. I checked the stems yesterday, and they're still tough and pliable, not brittle like I would expect if they were dead, so we'll see.

Last year's thyme barely survived the fall, much less the winter. That's why I started a fresh batch this year. Two sage plants survived the winter, and I'm debating whether to add a couple more this year or not. If those two take off this year, then no more will be needed - we had an ancient sage plant where i grew up that produced for 30 years that I know of, all from one bush. I have no idea how much older than that it was, because no one could recall who planted it, or when. it was already an established bush when we moved in there.

I got some cucumber seeds and some seeds from a giant sort of alleged jalapeno pepper last fall that one of my cousins grew, and I might give them a go this year. Maybe some tiny "cherry" tomatoes I got seed for last fall, too. As small as the "full sized" tomatoes I grew last year were, I'm almost scared to try the cherry tomatoes before I get a magnifying glass so I can tell when they're ripe...

In regard to the alleged jalapeno peppers, I say "alleged" because that's what I was told they were, but I've never seen actual jalapenos that big, nor have I ever eaten any that hot. So, I dunno what they really are, and am just using the name as it was given to me.

I also planted some ginseng berries that I got out of the woods on the hill above my house. I planted those last fall, in the shade of the giant beech tree in my front yard. Since I planted them last fall, it will be next spring before they sprout, if they DO sprout. it takes 18 months for ginseng to sprout from seed. If any of it sprouts, I can watch it from my front porch, meaning anyone trying to poach it is in for a ass-full of lead that I can deliver from the comfort of my rocking chair on the front porch. It's all about the convenience some times.

Being born from different mothers reduces the sense of kinship among the sons and heightens the sense of rivalry. In fact the competition for the throne becomes an anxious necessity, if they know that the winner of the race is likely to kill his brothers afterwards. 
 
Thus there is no security in the status of “eldest son”. Even their father’s preference may be diverted to a son of his favourite wife. It will be helpful if the candidate is popular among the people, but he needs to find allies in the military leadership, the religious leadership, and the royal household. The household is important partly because those close to the monarch will be the first to know about his death, priceless information which they may be able to keep to themselves until they have perfected their own arrangements.

Nor did it include the rest of David’s “mighty men”. Where, then, was Abishai, Joab’s elder brother, once “commander of the thirty”? Probably retired or dead, having been active since the very beginning of the reign. It’s likely that the
“thirty” had disappeared altogether. Joab and 
Abishai together had controlled the court. Without Abishai, and in the absence of the host (which had not been called out for war), Joab was an old commander with immense prestige and no soldiers.

The videos received more than 30,000 views.
According to documents viewed by Forbes, a court granted the government’s request for the information; however, it asked Google to not publicize the request.
In the court order, the authorities commented: “There is reason to believe that these records would be relevant and material to an ongoing criminal investigation, including by providing identification information about the perpetrators.”

I so hope he gets a party in prison.... If they even convict him that is.

A Chicago area veterinarian who has judged national dog shows was arrested Friday on child pornography charges, and accused of chatting about planning to sexually assault his newborn son, federal prosecutors announced on Monday.

Adam Stafford King, a veterinary ophthalmologist from Elburn, is charged with one count of knowingly distributing child pornography. He is a staff ophthalmologist at MedVet Chicago, a veterinary clinic in Avondale.
King is also a Havenese dog breeder and dog show judge who frequently travels to dog shows around the country, and had been scheduled to serve as a judge for the 2024 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

According to the charges against him, the FBI began investigating King in October, as part of a child pornography investigation in New York. Agents learned a subject in the New York case had been chatting with King using the dating app Scruff and the messaging app Telegram, and King had sent that person several videos of child pornography.



After that person was arrested, FBI agents posed as him online, and continued to chat with him. During those chats, King used the handle @pervchiguy, and wrote that he prefers children under age 10. In one message, King wrote "0-9 [years old] my fav…B[oy] and g[irl], though prefer b[oy]," according to the charges.


King also allegedly sent the person in New York several videos of child pornography, including at least three different videos of men sexually assaulting preteen boys.


During their chats, King also claimed he had drugged and sexually abused his nieces and nephews.


King allegedly wrote "I generally use Benadryl," noting that it provides a "wide safety margin," and is "easy," claiming, "it generally takes 30-45 min[utes]," and "I usually double an adult dose," according to the charges.


King also allegedly claimed that he and his husband were expecting the birth of a child by a surrogate on March 29, and that he planned to sexually assault the child after it is born. He also allegedly sent the person in New York an ultrasound image of the unborn child, and a photo of a baby outfit he and his husband got for Christmas.


"I do love the idea of inviting a buddy over when I have my boy … just has to be someone I can trust obviously," King allegedly wrote in a message.


According to the charges, when the FBI executed a search warrant at King's home on March 5, they found him in the shower with his cell phone, despite announcing their presence in the home several times.


During the search of his home and a forensic search of his iPhone, the FBI also found images of child pornography, the ultrasound image he had shared, and the baby outfit he had shown off.


King was arrested on Friday, days before he was scheduled to fly to California to visit the surrogate mother ahead of his son's expected birth later this week.


King is well-known in the dog-showing community, and has also been featured on podcasts.
"Because he's so well-known, especially in the Midwest - that's why it's such a shock," said Jessica Deardorff, who also shows dogs.


Deardorff has never met King, but knows of his work as an ophthalmologist and a judge.
Deardorff said she has previously called the American Kennel Club for stronger safeguards throughout the industry – specifically for children.


"You can't keep ignoring it. This isn't the good old boys club anymore," she said. "Like, you can't sweep things under the rug."


At King's initial court appearance on Friday, prosecutors asked him to be held in custody without bond, according to court records. A detention hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday.
The American Kennel Club said late Monday that King has been stripped of all his judging privileges.  
Nobody came to the door late Monday when CBS 2 stopped by King's rural home in Elburn. CBS 2 reached out to MedVet and King's attorney, who both had no comment.
