Illustration is by Giorgio Ansaldi and was published on the cover of the satirical magazine Il Fischietto ('The Whistle').
The Great White Fleet set sail on 16 December 1907, travelling first to South America before moving onto Asia, Australia, the Middle East and Europe. The battleships were painted white (hence the name) and were intended as a demonstration of the United States' naval strength.
The aesthetics of Austin Powers was derived from turn of the century Italian propaganda.

Nov 16, 2004: the St. Andrews and Palms Towers of the closed Desert Inn on the Vegas Strip were imploded. The Augusta Tower had been imploded with little fanfare in October 2001. Steve Wynn and Encore now occupy the site.
