Reminds me of Mentalism.
I think of it as part of the human condition. All we have is our senses and the mental landscape we create with them. The Mentalist understands it is all about perception, that what matters is what we experience and then process, not the world as it actually is. They work with perception to do things that some would call paranormal, while others would call it stage magic.
ETA: After a little more thought, it reminded me of the Lessor Magic of The Satanic Bible by Anton Lavey. It seems similar to a 'lessor' degree.
