This is a 15 minute video on the 1987 Wytheville, Virginia sightings. Wytheville is just to the east of here across the Clinch Mountain ridges, on the other side. The video doesn't mention the triangular craft, but several of them were sighted in this flap. It was the first time I had ever heard of them.
I did not live here at the time. I had left this area for more lucrative parts to the east, around the Tidewater area of Virginia (Norfolk Naval Base, Ft. Eustis, Langley AFB, Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, CIA Camp Peary (aka "the farm") area), about 2 years before the flap started. That area had a lot more job opportunities than a cabin in the woods here.
At the time of the flap, someone jokingly said to me that they were here looking for me, and I laughed and told them they missed their window of opportunity by a couple of years.
Another video about the SAME UFO flap in Wytheville:
I reckon it was around the time of this flap that my brother in law says he saw a huge silent "space ship" on Poplar Creek in Buchanan County, VA. His sighting was along Poplar Creek roughly half way between the mouth of the creek at the Levisa Fork river and the end of the creek at "Southern Gap" which used to be called Poplar Gap. He said it was long and silent, cigar shaped, and flying just above the ridges going from west to east across the holler. When I asked him how big it was, he said he didn't know because he could never see the entire thing at one time. He said it came across the ridge to the west, crossed the holler, and disappeared beyond the ridge to the east. During that time, as the front end disappeared beyond the eastern ridge, the back end had not yet cleared the western ridge. At that point, the ridges are about 700 feet apart.
