I agree campaigning’s intention is strictly to get votes — get elected. Relying on campaign promises is a fools errand. Better chance of “which way the wind blows” — research their voting history. Of course — there are those who waffle political parties.
I’ve taken more interest in local elections. Things that directly affect me.
I don’t know about Virginia — I was born and raised in Los Angeles (straight outta Compton actually). Mostly beach area. Which probably contributes to my strong lean on social issues. It is a progressive locale.
However — that is not fiscal. Not global politics. Money - power - control will win. It’s important to ask the right questions. And be prepared for the answers. If any real answers are forthcoming.
Anyone who thinks they are in control — they should probably re-think that.
