"Mostly B" for me back in the 90s.

I was browsing through past accounts laid down in the old Rogue Nation website when I came across the strange tale of
Sandown Sam back in 1973 and on the Isle of Wight, England. I guess most of our members had read the post, but just
in case the unusual tale is unknown to any of our current chums, I'll repeat it here and add in some recent research about
Sam The Sandown Clown and the two children who discovered him.

It was a Tuesday afternoon around four o’clock in May of 1973, a time of day when most children holidaying with their
parents would've been readying themselves for a sit-down dinner in their guesthouse or dare I suggest, hotel. But for
seven year-old Fey and an unnamed boy of a similar age, it seemed this was the juncture in Spring when they could
enhance their vacation by farting around in the overgrown wasteland between the seaside town of Sandown and the
nearby golf course.


The blue squares are where I believe the small stream is. This leads to the blue circle where a boggy area resides.

The picturesque sandy beaches that gave the coastal community its name and a favourite respite of Lewis Carroll and
Charles Darwin weren't exciting enough for the exploring pair and so with just under five hours before the sun set on the
little island in the English Channel, Fay and the lad wandered the thick shrubbery and their respective junior cognitions.
Then they heard what they thought was an ambulance siren.

In England at that time of this incident, these medically equipped vehicles would produce an electronic loud blaring and
repeating 'Dee-Dar-Dee-Dar-Dee-Dar' -sound to warn the public of their urgency and somewhere towards the little-used
aerodrome of Sandown Airport, the two children heard this similar resonance. Curious as most kids once were, Fey and
her friend went in search of the warbling tone and traversed one of the neatly-clipped grass links of the Shanklin and
Sandown Golf Club.

Approaching a hawthorn hedge that separated the private property from a swampy meadow, it seemed to the wandering
duo that the sound didn't come from any particular point and without speaking, the small girl and the boy agreed to step
through the barrier into the unkempt world between sportsmen of the four-iron and those who steer their Cessna across
the strait known as The Solent between the Isle of Wight and mainland England. (Sounds like 727Sky to a tee!)

Arriving at this boggy pasturage that occasionally flooded due to the stream that ran through it, the noise ceased and the
two youngsters peered around at this divide between the golf course and the airport with confusion. Standing there at the
beginning of a wooden footbridge over the narrow brook, to say they were surprised to see a blue-gloved hand appear from
beneath the platform would be an understatement!

A moment later, an tall oddly-dressed figure emerged from the shadows of the bridge and fumbling with a book as it stood
erect, the weird-looking being dropped the tome into the dark stale water of the dyke and spent some time splashing around
in search of it. Presumably, not wishing to to assist this clown-like resident of the neglected meadow in his literary pursuit,
Fay and the lad wandered away to a less crazy area of the lush wasteland.

Not long after, the stranger suddenly appeared near them carrying a black-knobbed microphone with a white flex dangling
from it. Almost at once, the wailing sound returned and children did what any sane person would do, they legged it. However,
the eccentric sodden librarian of Sandown's wilderness must've realised the blaring cacophony wasn't conducive in creating
friendship and so the screeching sound stopped again.

With hearts pounding from their sudden scamper, the two minors slowed their pace as they heard a pleasant voice close to
where they were catching their breath. Later, Fay assured her father that they were a fair distance from the bridge and its
bizarre occupant, yet she claimed they could hear the figure talking as if he was standing directly beside them. They heard
his voice ask -as if directly in their ears, "Hello, are you still there?"

Somehow, Fay and her chum believed the question was friendly enough to restrain their need to flee and so they cautiously
stepped closer in order to converse with the owner of the query. It was then that the pair of children took stock of the being's
outlandish appearance.

He was nearly seven feet tall and had no neck -for his head appeared to be wedged straight onto his shoulders. He wore a
yellow, pointed hat, which interlocked with the red collar of a green tunic. A round, black knob was affixed to the top of his
hat and ‘wooden’ antennae were attached either side. The face had triangular markings for eyes, a brown square of a nose
and motionless yellow lips. Other round rouge-like markings were on his paper-white cheeks and a fringe of red hair fell onto
his forehead. ‘Wooden slats’ protruded from his sleeves and from below his scruffy and torn white trousers.

Another aspect of this stranger's anatomy was that he had only three fingers on each hand and three toes on each foot, but
this didn't seem to enhance the children's inner-urge to turn tail and skedaddle back to the golf-links.

As Fay and her colleague hesitantly approached, the figure pulled out a notebook and wrote in large letters “Hello, and I am
all colours Sam” and held the message out so they could read it. Fay -all of seven summers, read it aloud to her companion
and this may have helped the stranger to improve his verbalisation skills as not long after, multi-pigmented-Sam's voice came
from the slit the children accepted was his mouth.

In a reality completely foreign to todays perception of social-safety, the trio had a conversation and Sam asked the children
questions and they asked questions in return. They asked about his ripped clothes, to which Sam replied that they were the
only clothes he owned. On the abnormal pallidity of his skin, the children asked if Sam was really a man, which he answered
that he wasn't.

They enquired further if he was a ghost and Sam replied "… Well not really, but I am in an odd sort of way." The children
then countered with "What are you then?" and the odd being replied with a vague "You Know" without elaborating further. Supposedly the children's new friend also stated that he had no name -despite introducing himself as Sam, and sketched in
his notebook what another ‘like him’ looked like. Sam also confided to the curious kids that humans frightened him and that
he was afraid of being attacked due to his inability to fight back.
It seems pacifism is alive and well in the world of the paranormal.

Defying the need to race ahead to the end of the story in order to find out if the two kids end-up naked and dead in the
dirty ditch between the airfield and the golf course, we can worryingly read that Fay and her fellow-explorer accepted Sam’s
invitation to enter a windowless metal hut that he called home. Crawling through a small flap of unknown fabric, the children
were welcomed properly to Sam's lair when he doffed his conical hat and revealed his white ears and sparse brown hair.

The interior of the shack was of two levels with the ground floor being wall-papered in a teal colour and covered with a
pattern of dials. An electric heater and some wooden furniture was all it held and Sams' guests noticed the upper metal-
panelled floor had less headroom than the ground floor. Gazing around at this unusual residence and possibly wondering
who was to be attacked first, their host informed them that he also had a camp on the mainland, but didn't specify where.

Like most inquisitive children, Fay asked about Sam's diet and he informed her that he ate berries that he collected during the
late afternoon. The location of his foraging wasn’t disclosed, but he added that after cleaning, the water from the nearby river
was safe to drink. If the situation Fay and her friend found themselves wasn't absurd enough, Sam's demonstration of how he
consumed these fruits would surely take the biscuit.

I believe most restaurants don't allow it anymore, but Sam placed a berry in his ear, forcibly propelled his head forward and
caused the pome to disappear. Wiggling his preposterous noggin about, the small fruit appeared in one eye before he shook
his head again and it arrived in his unmoving mouth. It's been suggested by some researchers that this was a way of analysing
the berry to check it wasn’t poisonous, but if Sam was a phantom, I'm sure a better comportment is desired by those beyond
the veil than sticking one's nourishment in one's lug-hole.

Fay reckoned they were there in Sam's abode for around half-an-hour and then it was time for farewells. Saying their
goodbyes, Fay and the boy trekked back across the golf course and told a man they met that they'd seen a ghost. Oddly
enough, he didn't believe them even after they described his costume. Who'd have thunk it?

On 2 June 1973, three weeks after their conversation with Sam, Fay confided in her father about her strange encounter.
He later commented on the detailed description of his daughter’s experience, which he was able to briefly verify with the
boy, and how upset she was when he suggested it wasn’t entirely truthful.

Fay's Pa believed an explanation for the incident of Sam could be make-believe or a shared-hallucination.
He also suggested that what his daughter and her friend met was a person dressed up to scare children.
Surely, a Sherlock Holmes moment.

However, he felt a particular detail Fay offered regarding Sam's digits was decidedly too difficult for someone to convincingly
fake and considering the girl's age, it is an unusual supplement for one of seven years-old.

Who knows...? to date, Sandown Sam has never reappeared on the Isle of Wight and the strange two-tier home was never
found.

We are in the post-constitutional era in the United States, a time when the government does whatever it wants to whomever it wants, and there is not a thing anyone can do about it.
How it is possible that the president can bomb a foreign country or threaten a full-scale international war without so much as even mentioning the need for Congress to chime in, let alone actually vote on a declaration of war?
The short answer is, disinformation and propaganda, which is the domain of mainstream media. When people are confused, when truth is hidden, when agendas are presented as life or death options, and when the public has no clue about which laws government is bound to, then anything goes.


Regarding disinformation, the following list of 25 rules of disinformation is from Twenty-Five Ways To Suppress Truth: The Rules of Disinformation (Includes The 8 Traits of A Disinformationalist) by H. Michael Sweeney, and offers a comprehensive way of processing information in a time of universal deceit.

1. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. Regardless of what you know, don’t discuss it — especially if you are a public figure, news anchor, etc. If it’s not reported, it didn’t happen, and you never have to deal with the issues.
2. Become incredulous and indignant. Avoid discussing key issues and instead focus on side issues which can be used show the topic as being critical of some otherwise sacrosanct group or theme. This is also known as the “How dare you!” gambit.
3. Create rumor mongers. Avoid discussing issues by describing all charges, regardless of venue or evidence, as mere rumors and wild accusations. Other derogatory terms mutually exclusive of truth may work as well. This method works especially well with a silent press, because the only way the public can learn of the facts are through such “arguable rumors”. If you can associate the material with the Internet, use this fact to certify it a “wild rumor” which can have no basis in fact.4. Use a straw man. Find or create a seeming element of your opponent’s argument which you can easily knock down to make yourself look good and the opponent to look bad. Either make up an issue you may safely imply exists based on your interpretation of the opponent/opponent arguments/situation, or select the weakest aspect of the weakest charges. Amplify their significance and destroy them in a way which appears to debunk all the charges, real and fabricated alike, while actually avoiding discussion of the real issues.
5. Sidetrack opponents with name calling and ridicule. This is also known as the primary attack the messenger ploy, though other methods qualify as variants of that approach. Associate opponents with unpopular titles such as “kooks”, “right-wing”, “liberal”, “left-wing”, “terrorists”, “conspiracy buffs”, “radicals”, “militia”, “racists”, “religious fanatics”, “sexual deviates”, and so forth. This makes others shrink from support out of fear of gaining the same label, and you avoid dealing with issues.
6. Hit and Run. In any public forum, make a brief attack of your opponent or the opponent position and then scamper off before an answer can be fielded, or simply ignore any answer. This works extremely well in Internet and letters-to-the-editor environments where a steady stream of new identities can be called upon without having to explain criticism reasoning — simply make an accusation or other attack, never discussing issues, and never answering any subsequent response, for that would dignify the opponent’s viewpoint.
7. Question motives. Twist or amplify any fact which could so taken to imply that the opponent operates out of a hidden personal agenda or other bias. This avoids discussing issues and forces the accuser on the defensive.
8. Invoke authority. Claim for yourself or associate yourself with authority and present your argument with enough “jargon” and “minutiae” to illustrate you are “one who knows”, and simply say it isn’t so without discussing issues or demonstrating concretely why or citing sources.
9. Play Dumb. No matter what evidence or logical argument is offered, avoid discussing issues with denial they have any credibility, make any sense, provide any proof, contain or make a point, have logic, or support a conclusion. Mix well for maximum effect.
10. Associate opponent charges with old news. A derivative of the straw man usually, in any large-scale matter of high visibility, someone will make charges early on which can be or were already easily dealt with. Where it can be foreseen, have your own side raise a straw man issue and have it dealt with early on as part of the initial contingency plans. Subsequent charges, regardless of validity or new ground uncovered, can usually them be associated with the original charge and dismissed as simply being a rehash without need to address current issues — so much the better where the opponent is or was involved with the original source.
11. Establish and rely upon fall-back positions. Using a minor matter or element of the facts, take the “high road” and “confess” with candor that some innocent mistake, in hindsight, was made — but that opponents have seized on the opportunity to blow it all out of proportion and imply greater criminalities which, “just isn’t so.” Others can reinforce this on your behalf, later. Done properly, this can garner sympathy and respect for “coming clean” and “owning up” to your mistakes without addressing more serious issues.

12. Enigmas have no solution. Drawing upon the overall umbrella of events surrounding the crime and the multitude of players and events, paint the entire affair as too complex to solve. This causes those otherwise following the matter to begin to loose interest more quickly without having to address the actual issues.
13. Alice in Wonderland Logic. Avoid discussion of the issues by reasoning backwards with an apparent deductive logic in a way that forbears any actual material fact.
14. Demand complete solutions. Avoid the issues by requiring opponents to solve the crime at hand completely, a ploy which works best for items qualifying for rule 10.
15. Fit the facts to alternate conclusions. This requires creative thinking unless the crime was planned with contingency conclusions in place.
16. Vanishing evidence and witnesses. If it does not exist, it is not fact, and you won’t have to address the issue.
17. Change the subject. Usually in connection with one of the other ploys listed here, find a way to side-track the discussion with abrasive or controversial comments in hopes of turning attention to a new, more manageable topic. This works especially well with companions who can “argue” with you over the new topic and polarize the discussion arena in order to avoid discussing more key issues.
18. Emotionalize, Antagonize, and Goad Opponents. If you can’t do anything else, chide and taunt your opponents and draw them into emotional responses which will tend to make them look foolish and overly motivated, and generally render their material somewhat less coherent. Not only will you avoid discussing the issues in the first instance, but even if their emotional response addresses the issue, you can further avoid the issues by then focusing on how “sensitive they are to criticism”.
19. Ignore proof presented, demand impossible proofs. This is perhaps a variant of the “play dumb” rule. Regardless of what material may be presented by an opponent in public forums, claim the material irrelevant and demand proof that is impossible for the opponent to come by (it may exist, but not be at his disposal, or it may be something which is known to be safely destroyed or withheld, such as a murder weapon). In order to completely avoid discussing issues may require you to categorically deny and be critical of media or books as valid sources, deny that witnesses are acceptable, or even deny that statements made by government or other authorities have any meaning or relevance.
20. False evidence. Whenever possible, introduce new facts or clues designed and manufactured to conflict with opponent presentations as useful tools to neutralize sensitive issues or impede resolution. This works best when the crime was designed with contingencies for the purpose, and the facts cannot be easily separated from the fabrications.
21. Call a Grand Jury, Special Prosecutor, or other empowered investigative body. Subvert the (process) to your benefit and effectively neutralize all sensitive issues without open discussion. Once convened, the evidence and testimony are required to be secret when properly handled. For instance, if you own the prosecuting attorney, it can insure a Grand Jury hears no useful evidence and that the evidence is sealed an unavailable to subsequent investigators. Once a favorable verdict (usually, this technique is applied to find the guilty innocent, but it can also be used to obtain charges when seeking to frame a victim) is achieved, the matter can be considered officially closed.
22. Manufacture a new truth. Create your own expert(s), group(s), author(s), leader(s) or influence existing ones willing to forge new ground via scientific, investigative, or social research or testimony which concludes favorably. In this way, if you must actually address issues, you can do so authoritatively.
23. Create bigger distractions. If the above does not seem to be working to distract from sensitive issues, or to prevent unwanted media coverage of unstoppable events such as trials, create bigger news stories (or treat them as such) to distract the multitudes.
24. Silence critics. If the above methods do not prevail, consider removing opponents from circulation by some definitive solution so that the need to address issues is removed entirely. This can be by their death, arrest and detention, blackmail or destruction of their character by release of blackmail information, or merely by proper intimidation with blackmail or other threats.
25. Vanish. If you are a key holder of secrets or otherwise overly illuminated and you think the heat is getting too hot, to avoid the issues, vacate the kitchen.

Our story -a true one mind you, begins on the 14th of September 1786 after a violent storm bombarded a little fishing port
called Porthleven in the county of Cornwall, England. Such tempestuous weather wasn't unusual for that part of the British
Isles as the Atlantic Ocean with its warm westerly gulf stream waters can bring squalls and gales that will have even the
most sanguine of fishermen cussing into their fire hearths and wondering how many lobster pots they'll lose.



When the winds finally dropped and the crashing waves relented on their assault on the sandy beach beneath the harbour
wall, two young boys made a pact that when morning came, they'd be the first to discover any poor vessel that had been
hurled ashore along that part of the Cornish coast and maybe find treasures to change their subdued lives in a town known
as a haven for shipwrecks.

The pair of unnamed scallywags did find something, but it was something they might have found in only the wildest of their
dreams. As dawn broke, the two excited lads surveyed the scene from the cliffs above a battered small cove and around a
mile away, they spied what they believed at first was the side of an unfortunate ship which had the preceding night been
broken to pieces by the extremities of the Porthleven shore.

Full of anticipation, they raced down the grassy pathway and nearing the spot where the waves were breaking across the
huge shape, the boys elation quickly drained as they realised the hulking form was alive. Having the forbearance to realise
they -like the thing on the beach, were out of their depth, they quickly sought the wisdom of older residents of the fishing
port.

After pressing the two youngsters on the matter with queries designed to quarry out a prank or mistaken identity, the small
group of men agreed to arm themselves with hatchets, pokers and large sticks and visit this washed-up creature who had
arrived from last night's tempest. Approaching the scene of the strange advent, the Porthlevions increased in number as the
story raced around the village and all would be alarmed at what they witnessed.

Bravely walking across the damp sand of the cove, they saw the monster slowly raise -what they suddenly realised was, its
head and begin to lurch towards them. Some of the villagers immediately fled and weapons were discarded in their fear, but
a few more-lionhearted of Porthleven stood their ground and prepared to do battle with whatever the storm had deposited on
their shore.

These plucky fishermen later reported that they could initially see no legs on the creature and it appeared to crawl on its
belly. Raising its body at times a little from the sand with a great pained exertion, the oncoming undulating monster resembled
one of the fishy characters from the older fishermen's tall tales.

The creature's length would later be measured at 48 feet and 10 inches and its circumference in the largest part of its body 24
feet and a half. A more detailed description would also be forthcoming, but first the men needed to do what was expected
back in 1786 when they believed they'd come across a giant mermaid, they needed to kill it.

After an hour of beatings, stabbings and other forms of violence, the monster expired with a groan and the examination began.
The large head was described as prickly at its rear and 'not formed much unlike that of a man'. The dead brute's eyes were
greenish and it sported a large mouth and flat human-like nose. Also resembling the upper torso of a man, the creature's
back was hard and more difficult to penetrate than the shell of a turtle.

Two stunted fore limbs that were formed like the paws of a monkey were observed and and the carcase's lower extremities
were shaped something like the hinder part of a porpoise. Splayed in the wet sand was a large fan tail, which when spread
measured a full 7 feet in width at the extent and 5 feet long.

Again, this was the age when across that great sea where the creature had emerged from, a man called Nathaniel Gorham
was being chosen as the new President of the U.S. Confederation Congress to substitute for John Hancock, who couldn't
take office because of illness. The Cabinet of Great Britain agreed to the establishment of a penal colony at Botany Bay in
Australia and the last wolf in Ireland was killed because of its preference in sheep on its menu.

It was also an age when pragmatism and frugalness were common lodgers in the homes of those who's own fare were at
the mercies of the elements and the seasons and so when a storm tosses the commoners lemons, they make lemonade.
The body of the Porthleven monster was boiled down for oil and even though the fins and the shell on its back were at some
pont considered to be of great value, no evidence exists of it today.

Future shocks are rapid advancements that severely disrupt society.

In 1977, media prophet Marshall McLuhan discussed CIA and FBI surveillance, and then spun it into one of the most mind-bending comments on identity in the digital age that is quite profound. Excerpt clip:

It has become one of the main occupations of mankind just watching other people and keeping a record of their goings-on and invading privacy. It has deprived people really of their private identity.

Mike McManus: So that's what this is doing to me?

McLuhan: Yes. Everybody tends to merge his identity with other people at the speed of light. It's called being masked man. By the way one of the big marks of the loss of identity is nostalgia and so revivals on all hands in every phase of life today. Revivals of clothing of dances of music of shows of everything. We live by the revival it tells us who we are or where.

Therefore, propaganda is our Achilles heel. It's our weak point. We will buy anything if it see it got a good hard sell tied to it. What now briefly is this thing called media ecology it means arranging various media to help each other so they won't cancel each other out to buttress one medium with another.

Future shock is a time phenomenon, a product of the greatly accelerated rate of change in society. It arises from the superimposition of a new culture on an old one. It is culture shock in one's own society. But its impact is far worse. For most Peace Corps men, in fact most travelers, have the comforting knowledge that the culture they left behind will be there to return to. The victim of future shock does not.

Take an individual out of his own culture and set him down suddenly in an environment sharply different from his own, with a different set of cues to react to—different conceptions of time, space, work, love, religion, sex, and everything else—then cut him off from any hope of retreat to a more familiar social landscape, and the dislocation he suffers is doubly severe. Moreover, if this new culture is itself in constant turmoil, and if—worse yet—its values are incessantly changing, the sense of disorientation will be still further intensified. Given few clues as to what kind of behavior is rational under the radically new circumstances, the victim may well become a hazard
to himself and others.

Now imagine not merely an individual but an entire society, an entire generation—including its weakest, least intelligent, and most irrational members—suddenly transported into this new world. The result is mass disorientation, future shock on a grand scale. This is the prospect that man now faces. Change is avalanching upon our heads and most people are grotesquely unprepared to cope with it.

The Ultra short pulse Laser shoots a beam traveling at 300 million K a second which means nothing will run away if it is targeted.  This new Laser is called a pulse Laser and shoots with more power than I thought possible just a few years ago due to better material science.
If they can make a 7 or 8 pound rifle with this technology (think Terminator) I want one !!

It would be nice to see or hear something good coming out of some of the 3 letter agencies but alas we are the droids they are looking for..

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Disinformation Governance Board met an ignoble demise last year, when it was disbanded within months, amid public criticism and staff-related scandal.
Despite being derisively referred to as “the Ministry of Truth” – i.e., a US government’s alleged attempt to create an Orwellian-like institution – it was a fairly safe bet that the strong backlash notwithstanding, the initiative would rear its head again at some point. Soon.
Meet the Foreign Malign Influence Center (FMIC), located at the Office of the Director of US National Intelligence (ODNI). Some sentiment suggest that this might be a Disinformation Governance Board 2 – what with a similar declarative focus on foreign threat, which is then easy to transition, as a smokescreen, to turning the authorities’ sights onto “domestic dissenters.”
And that would mean more censorship, in effect flying under the radar, critics fear.
A deceptive tactic, they continue, which could easily use foreign threats simply as an excuse to influence politics at home.
Speaking of interference – the FMIC could also “duplicate” other US efforts, such as that of a State Department’s unit that has taken it upon itself to suppress what’s seen as “populism” in other countries.
Now, this is what the FMIC has to say for – and about itself – the threat from abroad is constant and “dynamic” – no doubt – but therefore, “informing efforts to counter it requires constant attention, a whole-of-government approach, support from the private sector, and engagement from the public.”

However, the “soothing” mention of foreign threats is not the only thing the FMIC will be dealing with – there’s also “protection of US public opinion.” And this, opponents may suspect, might be a euphemism for “policing domestic narratives.”
The existence of the Center seems to have been presented to the public in a rather low-key fashion. It was last Thursday that it came up during an address by ODNI chief Avril Haines, a full 45 minutes into the speech, during a hearing organized by the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Matt Taibbi, who pored over Twitter’s internal documents to become one of those behind the explosive Twitter Files, doesn’t look at this kind of initiative very kindly.
In fact, he seems to pretty much consider it a ruse whose real goal is to “slowly adjust aim to domestic targets.”
But first – what Taibbi calls “the basic rhetorical trick of the censorship age” must “raise a fuss about a foreign threat, using it as a battering ram to get everyone from Congress to the tech companies to submit to increased regulation and surveillance.”

Not many folk know that the deepest body of water -or Lough, in Ireland resides down in the western county of Kerry and
is titled Lough Muckross. Depths of 246 feet have been reported in this goal of many tourists who wish to visit the ancient
woodland and spectacular waterfalls.



To be specific, Lough Muckross -sometimes called 'Middle Lake' is in the Killarney National Park and close to a larger lake
called Lough Leane. The Atlantic Ocean borders the west, the grand river Shannon to the north and the beautiful province
also owns the award for having Ireland's tallest mountain, Carrauntoohil.

But Lough Muckross holds a strange story hiding in the dark depths of its quiet waters and the locals call it 'Muckie'. Down
there with the Brown Trout, Salmon and the rare blunt-snouted Irish char, something once swam without the concerns that
its cousins like Nessie and Champ have to deal with daily. And it was these fish that caused a group of scientists to discover
Muckie's furtive lifestyle.

In 2003, The Irish Charr Conservation Group -founded by Dr. Fran Igoe, Myles Kelly, Steven Neylon and Paul Mitchell, sent
their group to Kerry in order to determine the fish population in Muckross. Known as the Earc Uisce project, Eileen Sheehan,
John Sexton, Margaret O’Shea and Lynda Horgan spent the year plumbing the depths of Logh Muckross with sonar and as
they finished up the echo-sound readings in early 2004, they discovered something highly unorthodox on their recordings.

Something the size of a 'two-storey house' was moving across their sonar beam and as Andrew Long, a specialist fisheries
consultant later said: “We have been unable to identify exactly what the image is, but we know it was not a computer or
logging error, as the gear was functioning normally.”

Legends had been abound of a massive serpent living in the Killarney and MacGillicuddy Reeks area. Some researchers
found a myth surrounding MacGillicuddy Reeks mountains known locally known as Cnoc na Peiste or for those who aren't
fluent in the Gaelic language, 'Peak of the Serpent'. In 1981 a photograph was allegedly taken of a flipper-like appendage
in Lough Muckross, however no image has surfaced to reappear here.

Oddly enough, on Google Maps... there's something in the water.
